Biography
Usman Zaheer, DO, is a medical oncologist and hematologist at Affiliated Oncologists. He grew up in New Orleans, LA and aspired to become a physician when he was in college at LSU. He completed a Masters Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Mississippi College before entering Medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. His three years of Internal Medicine residency training were completed at Lower Bucks Hospital in suburban Pennsylvania where he was third-year Chief Resident. He was given the opportunity to complete his fellowship in Hematology Oncology at his Alma mater, LSU in Shreveport, LA where he served as Chief Fellow in his final year. Dr. Zaheer’s naturally caring and calm demeanor serves him well when treating his patients. He values building strong relationships with his patients throughout their cancer journey not only as a provider but as a fellow human being. His aim is to understand the many complexities and concerns throughout a patient’s journey and the immense amount of support that is required. As the field is ever changing, Dr. Zaheer is committed to keeping himself up to date with new treatments and research. In his free time, Dr. Zaheer likes to spend time with his wife, daughter, and Persian cat. He enjoys water sports, playing basketball, hiking, and traveling with his family.
